I just downloaded and unzipped Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller LAN Driver 718 for Windows 7 (10 MB). The instructions and labels in that material (e.g., Read Me) specifically say it’s for WIN8, so I’m not using it to update my drivers. Getting the correct Realtek Ethernet driver (or the correct Realtek WiFi driver) is the key to solve the Realtek network driver problems and regain good Internet connection on Windows PC. “The Realtek PCle GBE family controller adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problems.”.

I am facing the following problem:
![]()
Background: Adobe creative suite 3 web standard download.
OS: Windows 8.1
Ethernet Driver: Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller
Issue:
1) When I boot my computer, the Ethernet is working fine. The Ethernet connects the wifi router to my computer for internet access.
2) After a random period of time (sometimes 5 mins to sometime 3 hours) the internet automatically gets disconnected. The small computer symbol in the bottom right tray which signifies that a wired internet connection exists in the computer disappears. Only the disconnected WiFi symbol is present. At this point, all wires are correctly in place from the modem to the Ethernet port in the computer.
This happens everyday.
What I have already tried:
1) Open network and sharing centre --> change adapter settings --> disable and enable the Ethernet. Result Cd baby digital download cards. : The Ethernet still shows disconnected and does not enable. On right click, refresh --> The Ethernet icon vanishes from the Network connections window and doesnot come back until the computer is shut down and kept powered off for 15-20 mins.
2) Shut down the computer for 15-20 mins: Result: The Ethernet icon appears when the computer reboots and stays for sometimes 5 mins to sometimes 3 hours and then again disappears.
3) Disable Green Ethernet, disable Energy efficient Ethernet, unchecked 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Result: No effect on the situation.
4) Update device drivers. Result: It says the device driver is already up to date.
5) Downloaded the device driver from Realtek's website. Uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the driver from the downloaded package. Result: No effect on the situation.
6) Replaced the netgear router with a TP Link router: No effect on the problem.

Can someone help me with a solution here?

So I am not actually in any of the boats any of the others are describing. The only 'viras tool' I have is Windows Defender and turning that off briefly did not do anything.
I have tried disabling the adapter - Nothing
I have tried manual IP and DNS - Nothing
Have installed the new Realtek Driver for Win10 - Nothing
Restarted PC - Nothing
Uninstalled the driver completely - Nothing

Realtek Pcie Gbe Family Controller Driver Windows 10 Without Internet Connection
It all comes back to 'Unidentified network'. Digging further into this I found this exact same issue occurred on Windows 8.1 for some users upgrading from Windows 8. Every post was the same. The driver and hardware are fine as the device is sending packets but it is not able to receive packets packet.

Found another link to a couple of other articles talking about deleting the DNI-DNE entry in your netcfg via command line. Obviously this is not the answer as lots of people are still saying this is not working, not found or it does not pertain to them (DNI_DNE entries are made for VPN clients, if you do not have a VPN client, you do not have the entry).

So it seems that something else is going on here. And it needs a fix.. soon.
